Publix Pharmacy Hours on Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays
Publix pharmacy hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
We checked 73 Publix pharmacies across all eight Publix states on October 19, 2026. Every one listed that exact schedule.
The pharmacy runs on a shorter clock than the store around it, though, and Sunday is where people get caught out.
Pharmacy hours for each day of the week
Every store page in the Publix store locator lists the pharmacy separately from the store, with its own hours and its own phone number. This is how it looks for the Southgate Shopping Center store in Lakeland, Florida.

Some hours sites still say the pharmacy closes at 5 p.m. on Sunday. None of the 73 store pages we read showed 5 p.m. Every one said 6.
Sunday is the short day
At a store that opens at 7 a.m., the pharmacy starts two hours later on weekdays and Saturday and four hours later on Sunday. It also closes first: one hour before a 10 p.m. store on weekdays, three hours before on Saturday and four on Sunday. Add up the week and the pharmacy is open 77 of the store’s 105 hours, about 73%.
For a weekend refill, get there before 7 p.m. on Saturday or between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Does the pharmacy close for lunch?
Not according to Publix. Its store pages show one unbroken block for each day, and several hours sites that mention a 30-minute lunch break don’t match any of the 73 pages we read. If your pharmacy posts a sign about a break, trust the sign, and call the pharmacy number on the store page before you drive over.
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter closings
Publix pharmacies close on the same three days the stores do.
Coming up, that means Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 2026, Christmas on Friday, December 25, 2026, and Easter Sunday, March 28, 2027.
Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are early closing days for the stores, with the times posted in stores beforehand. Publix doesn’t put separate pharmacy hours for those days online, so if you’re wondering whether the pharmacy is open on New Year’s Day, call ahead or refill before the holiday.
Federal holidays are murkier. Parade reported that Publix pharmacies were closed on Labor Day 2026, without citing Publix. Our Publix holiday hours calendar lists every closure and early closing through Easter 2027.
Curbside pickup and drive thru windows
Look under “Also available” on a store page to see what that pharmacy offers. The Southgate store in Lakeland lists Curbside Pharmacy, and the Pear Orchard store in Louisville lists a drive thru.
With a Publix Pharmacy account you can manage and pay for prescriptions online, get refill reminders and use delivery or curbside pickup, Publix says. Its Sync Your Refills program lines up a household’s prescriptions, pet medications included, so they’re ready on one trip.
Switching from another pharmacy is easy too. Publix’s pharmacy page has a Transfer now option, and the pharmacist handles the rest.
Flu shots and other vaccines
You don’t need an appointment for a flu shot. Publix says you can walk in or book ahead, and its pharmacists give flu, COVID-19, shingles, RSV and pneumonia vaccines right in the store.
The Publix vaccines page has a consent form for each of the eight states, and filling it out before you go saves time at the counter. State, age and health restrictions apply, and the vaccines on hand vary by location.
For some common conditions there’s also WellSync, Publix’s online virtual care, with visits Publix lists at $25 to $49 depending on the state.
The free prescription program ended in 2022
Publix started giving away certain prescriptions in 2007 and stopped on June 1, 2022. By then it had filled well over 100 million free prescriptions, the company says in its newsroom Q&A.
In their place, Publix announced $7.50 for a 90-day supply of metformin, lisinopril or amlodipine and $7.50 for a 14-day supply of amoxicillin, with quantity limits. That was the 2022 price, so ask the pharmacy what it charges now.
A few hours sites still list free antibiotics and blood pressure pills at Publix. That’s four years out of date.
Finding your own pharmacy’s hours
- Open the Publix store locator and search by city, state or ZIP code.
- Turn on the Pharmacy filter so only stores with a pharmacy show up.
- Open Store details to see the pharmacy’s hours for each day and its phone number.
- Call that number before a holiday or if you’re cutting it close to closing.
